Plasma Screen Technology Year on year the technology gets better and Plasma TV manufacturers continue to push the realms of high quality vision. As one manufacturer states, THINK BIG - THINK PLASMA http://panasonic.net/think_plasma/ The beauty of Plasma TV lies in its sharp, clear picture. Plasma technology enables uniform distortion free viewing, bright accurate colour and in contrast to most LCD, a 170-degree undistorted viewing angle. CONTRAST - Plasma technology can also deliver superior grey scale characteristics, which basically means the format generally provides more detail in dark areas. This is very much apparent in the later generation of products from the leading manufacturers. RESPONSE TIME - Plasma is better than LCD. Measured in milliseconds (ms), its the time it takes for a single pixel to go from active to inactive and back to active again. Though great leaps have been made to increase the response time with LCD technology to improve and avoid blurring over fast movement, plasma is still considerably better. COLOUR SATURATION - As the plasma technology allows pixels to be turned off when not needed, the blocked light will not stray and dilute its colours, unlike LCD where there is always some stray light in the screen mechanism. PLASMA MECHANISM - The simplest way to understand the principle of the Plasma Display Panel (PDP) is its very basic likeness of a fluorescent lamp with the construction of a 'sandwich'. Generally, between the two glass plates there is a space of 0.1mm containing a special gas (neon, xenon), where an electric discharger generates ultraviolet rays. These rays in turn activate the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) phosphors. Now each of the primary colours is seen as a visible light. By manipulating the RGB colour brightness, accurate colour images are then reproduced on the Plasma TV front screen displaying an image of distinct quality. A Electric-discharger B Light Emitter
